Question by Victor: Can Microsoft Sync be installed in a Ford that doesn’t already have it?
Let’s say for example I buy a used 2005 Ford Escape, can I take it to a Ford dealership to have the Microsoft Sync system installed?

Or does it come already installed on newer vehicles only?

I’m sure it could but it will not be cheap. It might require extensive modification since sync works with the cars computer. But if it came on another vehicle the same make and model as yours, it can be done.

    1. SYNC can only be retrofitted to certain vehicles which have Ford’s newer CAN bus interface. The kit is $ 599 plus installation, but won’t work on your 05 Escape which isn’t a CAN radio. Best option would be to replace your factory receiver with an aftermarket receiver with Built in Bluetooth and iPod integration, like http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CX501/Clarion-CX501.html?tp=5684&nvpair=FFBluetooth%7cBuilt-in&nvpair=AG_Size%7cFFDouble%40DIN

or any other double din receiver
